May 6, 2015, Papua New Guinea— APEC delegates pose for the Family Photo in the recently concluded Policy Partnership on Women and the Economy (PPWE) 1 meeting on May 3-5, 2015 in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. PPWE 1 Meeting is part of the APEC Women and the Economy (WE) Fora to be held on September 16-18, 2015 in Manila, Philippines.
Papua New Guinea is the 46th of the 222 trading partners of the Philippines. There are about 27,000 Filipinos working in the country.
Department of Trade and Industry Undersecretary Nora K. Terrado and Philippine Commission on Women Executive Director Emmeline L. Verzosa visit the SME Business Corporation, a training center for SMEs in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. They are given an orientation by Ruth Choulai who handles women groups in weaving the local Bilum made with natural fibers.

The center capacitates women to run their businesses to address issues on access to skills, training, enterprise management, and market, which are similar needs of women entrepreneurs in the Philippines.
Undersecretary Terrado is the chair of the APEC Women and the Economy Forum 2015 to be held in September in Manila. The two ladies were in Papua New Guinea as part of the APEC Policy Partnership on Women and the Economy (PPWE) meeting hosted by Papua New Guinea from May 3-5, 2015 at Laguna Hotel in Port Moresby.
