ASIA-PACIFIC ECONOMIC COOPERATION:PERU 2016

Peru is delighted to welcome all participants to the APEC WOMEN AND THE ECONOMY (WE) FORUM 2016 in Lima, Peru.

 The Ministry of Women's Affairs and Vulnerable Populations (MIMP) is in charge of the administrative and logistic arrangements regarding the organization of meetings and related activities, thus  enabling delegates to carry out their work while enjoying their stay in Lima.

This Administrative Circular provides relevant meeting information and details on administrative procedures, meeting logistics and general requirements for all participants. Further information and requests for clarification can be addressed to the Ministry of Women's Affairs and Vulnerable Populations (MIMP) via email provided in Section 5.

Amendments to this Circular shall be issued as necessary and also be available at the APEC Information Desk at the meeting venue.

The Ministry of Women’s Affairs and Vulnerable Populations wishes all delegates a pleasant and productive visit to Perú.

Opening remarks.

Remarks by senior Peruvian government officials potentially those involved in trade, human capacity development and leading the development of the initiative.

These remarks could highlight Peruvian priorities and how the meetings sync with the priorities of the PPWE writ large. They should also outline the agenda for the day.

Opening plenary session

Keynote speaker – 15 minutes

High Profile Panel – Moderator plus four high profile influential speakers

This high profile panel could focus on the issues of Economic Literacy and Internationalization of SMEs as they are closely aligned. – 1 hour (built-in time for delays and stage movements)

10:30 – 11:30

Series of short Ted-style talk speakers

This session could be structured to give the audience an overview of the remaining three key issues that the meetings are focused on. Ted-style talk sessions allow for an expert speaker to give a concentrated, passionate and well-structured talk about an issue. They enable the audience to think differently about an idea that will be later discussed in more detail during the breakout sessions.

10-minute Ted-style talk on Costs of gender-based violence

15 minutes – Interview style discussion between two speakers – Economy care systems – To break up the flow we could have one interview-style session between two experts.

10-minute Ted-style talk – on the fifth topic - Digital Literacy

Breakout session

Breakout sessions would be run like mini workshops. Participants would hear from a short 15-minute opening panel and then work together in smaller groups to come up with ideas or solutions that the region could pursue that would help overcome the issue. These sessions should be led by an expert facilitator. Notes should be taken during each session on a PowerPoint screen so that participants can provide feedback. Key points will be shared by the facilitator or other expert speaker during the closing session

This could be a moderated panel discussion with an expert moderator and five facilitators from each session. Each facilitator would be in charge of highlighting the key points from their sessions that economies should consider important. These points could be included in the discussion and Statement during the HLPD.
