Recent advancements in ICT innovations and value chains that have been observed in APEC region can be sources of solutions to strengthen the livelihood development capacity and entrepreneurial skills for women. However, there is a lack of a more holistic framework in APEC region to address the pressing challenges for women to gain access to these new innovations and business opportunities. This conference aims to facilitate the sharing of best practices on how member economies use ICT innovations to enhance women’s capacities of doing business and to foster an equitable workforce participation of disadvantageous women.
The ICT related policies, strategies and measures discussed in the event are not restricted on female-specific programmes; however, a commitment to the empowerment of women through ICT innovations and relevant value-added services is a prerequisite.
