Despite gender parity in the epidemic, there is insufficient research into the unique aspects of HIV and women. Although many of the HIV conferences discuss the latest advances in HIV management, they fail to address gender specific features. This HIV & Women workshop brings together leading researchers, allied health professionals , caregivers, and experts in the field to share their knowledge, and provide a framework for a dialogue on the complex biologic, social, and medical intersections between HIV and women. We share knowledge and new findings on gender specific research in other area of medicine with multidisciplinary experts.
The format of the meeting enables considerable dialogue supporting the development of new ideas, and strategies and partnerships of stakeholders.
The workshop is designed as an interactive scientific program consisting of overview talks by key opinion leaders, oral abstract presentations of new research findings, Q&A sessions, guided poster sessions, roundtable- and patient case discussions. We encourage new investigators to come and present their work.
The workshop is supportive of a global perspective with regard to the treatment and management of HIV-infected women: Learning of different barriers and issues around the globe, should help identify ways forward for improving health of women.
